Kill The Music Overview
This rhythm fighting game depends on all conceptions of the beat. Your character will automatically perform the attacks, but only by perfect timing with the music can you increase the damage. In the beginning, I made a lot of mistakes. After a few tries, it felt just like tapping along to a song on my desk.
There is a satisfying user interface combo system that keeps going for as long as you manage to keep fighting fair. You spend your combo on Hold Attacks, and they always go with the rhythm. I liked this. It gets rid of all the worry about timing and just lets you have fun smashing enemies while the sweet tunes jam out in the background.
Enemies that go down will leave you spirit energy. Once the gauge fills, you can perform a Solo Attack: this makes your weapon stronger as it carves its way through enemies like butter. To be honest, that feeling was like triggering ultimate moves in games; it gave me a very powerful sensation.
Between rounds, upgrades can be set. This is where the game changes each time. Many times, I ended up getting an insane build and shredding everything, while other times I just tried new mixes to see how they worked. It never felt boring because of that.
The story is also heavy. Roxie, the main character, lost her venue in a fire, and her friends were gone-their spirits got trapped. Every time you beat a boss, she regains bits of her memory and learns what really happened. Didn’t see that emotional side coming, but it sure gave me the drive to keep pushing to see the entire story.
