Blood Storm: Alien Purge – Overview
I just played Blood Storm: Alien Purge, and it was thrilling from start to finish. You take the role of Jia Hua, a recruit of the Federal Bureau of Anomalies. At first, it appears to be a run-of-the-mill mission until you find yourself trapped in an abandoned factory infested with aliens, cyber-zombies, and all sorts of weird mutants.
Survival is far from easy. You need to blast through continuous assaults of enemies while attempting to uncover an air-dome government plot that must surely hide behind it all. The gameplay resembles that of an arcade classic rail shooter, but this time set in modern 3D graphics. The timings of your shots and the reloads make all the difference. I got addicted to simply beating my own score and going further with each run.
The campaign is around 40 minutes long, but with high replay capability: no two rounds felt the same. I enjoyed how enemies changed with each stage, so the action felt fast and exciting in every sense. The gunfights are smooth and pulse-quickening, with moments of near breathlessness. You start piecing together the trial’s grotesque experiments and the Bureau’s clandestine secrets, giving an extra sheen of mystery to all the chaos.
It is so cool since this game was developed by a tiny indie team that hardly had the resources for advertising. They surely put their hearts into it. Every stage just speaks with love for the whole rail shooter genre. They also ask for honest feedback, which is important to support indie games like this. I mean, leaving a review, a comment, or posting a gameplay video will really assist them in improving.
