You Suck At Football Review
The premise of this game is chaos from the moment you start: You have a football, some crazy parkour, and absolutely zero breaks. You’re bouncing, rolling, and kicking the ball through almost impossible obstacles. Every step is further up the ladder-small wins before the inevitable slip, fall, start over. Believe me, there are a lot of slips.
This game is not all that simple. The ball has weight, weird momentum, and I think it very much thinks about itself. One moment, it just seems like you’ve got it, but one small mistake and tumbling straight down. I spent almost an hour working on a jump that ended with me falling at the end. It maddened me, but at the same time, it made me chuckle. Hard mode is worse by far. There are no checkpoints. One slip and all your progress is wiped out.
The map is a vertical nightmare. There are floating platforms, moving paths, and spinning traps- everything is designed to push you down through. The higher you climb, the more punishing it gets. It’s kind of like “Only Up,” but this is way more chaotic and brutal.
The fails are the best bit, though. You’ll be shouting at the screen, “STOP IT, WE’RE GOING BACKWARDS,” and a minute later, you’re laughing at yourself because you’ve fallen again. The game is so frustrating, fun, and just makes for those moments when you want to make a clip to show friends.
Getting to the top, however, is an achievement. That moment makes every scream and rage quit worth it. I remember playing with a buddy where we’d fight and laugh and almost break up, but boy, it was entirely worth it when standing at the top.
