When I first put my hands on the original Gears of War years ago, I had no idea that it would stick with me for so long. It had a dark atmosphere, a heavy gunfight, and that chainsaw bayonet sound, turning itself into something that I will never forget. Now playing Gears of War Judgment on PC feels like reliving that moment more smoothly.
The Storyline
It is 14 years since monsters called the Locust Horde came from the underground, and the planet has slipped into chaos. Most cities are in ruins, and it’s only a matter of survival now. You are Marcus Fenix, a soldier who had long been imprisoned and left for dead, but was saved by Dominic Santiago, his friend. Along with Delta Squad, the mission is clear: take out the Locust and fight for humanity.
The saga would sound familiar to old players, but I quite liked going through it again, especially in co-op mode with a friend. Playing with friends gives it a whole different type of thrill that single-player just can’t match.
Remakes with Better Graphics
Now it has been rebuilt with Unreal Engine, which means sharper and cleaner imagery and smoother gameplay on modern PCs. The particularity in character models, the environments, and even the shadows makes the world much more immersive. Compared to the first release, it feels as if a whole new layer of life has been added.
What I think is best is that it comes with all the additional content of the original game. You get bonus missions, maps, characters, and cosmetics for the campaign, without having to pay extra money. Everything is already unlocked as you install.
Controls and Options
Probably changed best change is the control scheme. For a newcomer, this modern control setup is easy to learn, but switching back to the classic setup is akin to riding a bike-if you have ever done it, you never forget it. I switched both ways just to compare, and I can certainly say that both feel smooth.

Why you should play
If you never played Gears of War before, then this is the best way to get initiated: entirely complete. Reloaded feels like a do-over for those who did play it ages ago, giving them the chance to play one of the most iconic action games once more with modern graphics and smoother performance.
