POSTAL Redux is an application that gives birth to one of the most controversial shooters ever made. If you are not aware of POSTAL, it was very dark and brutal among other games, and it was unlike any other during its time. POSTAL Redux is not just a lazy port. It is a remake in full, adding HD visuals, improved audio, as well as modernized gameplay tweaks while still retaining the raw madness that made the game infamous.
I never played POSTAL when it was first released since I was too young, but I read about it in magazines for most. Then I tried to play it years later after realizing why it made headlines all those years ago. Now that Redux is here, I can finally enjoy the madness without the hassle of the original’s clunky controls and blurry graphics.
What POSTAL Redux is all about
POSTAL Redux is both for the newcomers and an older audience. In addition, it manages to bring the original tone and spirit while smoothing the gameplay. Well, you’re still playing as the POSTAL Dude, and the crazy simple goal remains: survive everyone trying to kill you.
What’s neat is the way everything fits together:
Graphics: The HD visuals make the game clearer and easier to play.
Sound: Remastered sound effects and music further summon the creepy atmosphere.
Controls: Twin-stick shooting is very smooth, and the weapon switching feels very natural.
Content: The complete campaign, along with every expansion, makes this really huge.
Key Features
Online Co-op Mode
The introduction of POSTAL Redux office also has an online co-op for a maximum of four players. This is probably my favorite feature of the game. When playing with friends, which is what was initially a lonely shooter, turns into a chaotic group experience. The amount of friendly fire and accidental disasters is really fun, even when you’re losing.
Online Deathmatch
Alternatively, if you enjoy competing, there is an 8-player deathmatch mode. It’s basically everyone against everyone, and the action gets intense very quickly.
Rampage Mode
This is a new feature. Instead of just clearing enemies, you are rewarded for chaining kills and using creative destruction. It would be a great push for personal challenges, and the gameplay would continue to feel fresh, even well after completing the main campaign.
Full Campaign with 17 Levels
The full original POSTAL campaign is here in all its glory, from the trailer park to a city street to an Air Force base. There’s also a carnival stage introduced into the remake, which really stood out to me because it was so odd and colorful compared to the usual grim tone.
Included Expansion Levels
In Redux, you not only get the campaign from the original game, but the levels from Special Delivery and Super POSTAL, too. That takes the total up to 23, with some maps set in Japan.
Weapons and Enemies
Comprising 10 weapons, the game ranges from an old shotgun/grenade to over-the-top tools like flamethrowers and napalm launchers. Enemy forces such as cops, SWAT, vigilantes, and even obnoxious ostriches would also chase after the player.
Why You Should Play POSTAL Redux Today
The main reason POSTAL Redux is worth downloading is how it feels silkier and much more fun than the original; indeed, POSTAL will always remain an indelible part of its identity, yet Redux does show that there exists a very good twin-stick shooter underneath all this.
When I was playing the campaign, I realized how much better the controls feel when compared to the older version. Simple things like aiming and shooting while moving at the same time are far more comfortable. Plus, there are added modes to keep you bored once the campaign winds down.

However, I stepped into POSTAL Redux expecting only a spiced version of that good old game, but it came as a surprise. Much better clean graphics, heavy audio, and pretty much more fun when played in co-op. Mostly spent my time in rampage mode, just hanging on to that streak. It’s one of those games where you don’t really play to ‘win’; you just play to wreak as much havoc as possible.
POSTAL Redux for PC (Build 2789907) is a remake that respects the original while making it more enjoyable in today’s time. With its updated visuals, smooth gameplay, co-op features, and expanded content, it offers a complete package for anyone curious about this cult series.
