Shoomer Booter isn’t your everyday first-person shooter. Things get serious the instant the game loads you into levels packed with traps, dangers, lava everywhere, pools of acid just waiting to burn you alive, and vending machines that don’t dispense snacks but rocket launchers. Everything can kill you or help you if you play it smart.
Ten levels are available in the first episode. I’ve played through them and, honestly, they’re challenging but quite enjoyable. The maps are designed to confuse you and lead you into making a mistake. The world seems constructed around this bizarre idea of Shoomerian myths, which, in some respects, makes everything feel twisted and strange. Sometimes during play, I would find myself just stopping, staring at the weird designs, then jumping back into the fights.
You play this scruffy guy who has seemed to suddenly started going mad. There are endless enemies monsters keep rushing toward you, but the more you advance, the crazier and tougher they get. Once, I found myself cornered by monsters who had already transformed into their higher forms, and I was left with no choice but to run and shoot like a madman.
Graphics and Style
The art makes use of pixels, yet it is still sharp. With the lighting, every room seems heavy, while the enemies explode in blood and pieces flying all around. It is brutal but satisfying. I felt like it was old school and new enough not to feel out of date.
Weapons and Combat
Weapons are one of the biggest reasons this game succeeds. Sure, you get the classics: rifle, rocket launcher, and shotgun. But what makes everything even better is that each weapon has its own edition that hits harder or works entirely differently. This keeps fights alive, constantly reminding us of being in this shotgun variation, where it felt amazing clearing an enemy crowd with a single blast.
Neither do the monsters come to stand still. They also keep mutating, while at times, you often feel like the game is halfway through testing how long you can take the pressure.
The perfect soundtrack. Heavy guitars and loud drums keep the action intense. With my headphones on, it almost felt like I was in battle while a metal band played right next to me. It made battles much more fun.
Overall, Shoomer Booter is a great retro FPS that features well-designed levels, heavy firepower, and a blood-pumping soundtrack. If you’re a fan of indie shooters or old-school action games, this one is definitely worth downloading. You may also be interested in: JAIL DICE – Roll to Break Free Download for Windows PC
