He is Coming is a roguelite RPG where the Demon King is slowly invading the world and, if no one comes to save it, everything will be plunged into darkness. The setting is a never-ending search for weapons during the day and battling nightmares at night. Alas, a new boss will come after you every three days.
I tried it myself, and trust me, it gets tough when you think you are prepared, but the next monster shows up with abilities that completely change your plan. That’s the charm of this game. It doesn’t let you relax.
Gameplay Experience
Each boss feels different from the rest in He is Coming. There are over thirty unique bosses, all with a different way of attacking. You can’t play with the same setup every time. I met the Razorclaw Grizzly, which is completely immune to armor. Armored all those hours of focus on defense were suddenly made irrelevant. I had to switch to speed- and attack-boosting gear in a rush.
You will find over 350 pieces to play with. Sometimes it is all about stacking health; sometimes, it is sheer damage. Sometimes, it is very tricky combinations like attack reflection or regeneration. Getting the right setup is only half the fun.
And then comes the Black Knight. This boss is cruel because he absorbs your attack power. I learned the hard way that just spamming damage makes him stronger. I had to rely on special armor that reflects damage and small items like enchanted earrings that chip away at him slowly. It felt frustrating at first, but the satisfaction when he finally went down was worth it.
Choices and Strategies
What I like most of all is that it forces you to make decisions. Do you spend resources sharpening your blade, or do you save them for armor upgrades? Do you buy rare items from greedy merchants or risk exploring dangerous areas for loot? Inventory space is also limited, so you can’t just carry everything.
Sometimes I choose wrong. I remember carrying too many speed items, which worked fine against one boss, but when the next one appeared, I got crushed because I had no defense. That constant push and pull between short-term survival and long-term planning makes every run feel different.
