I tested Formula Legends on my PC, and honestly, it feels like going back in time through racing history. The essence of the game consists of reliving the finest moments of Formula racing, from the cars of the ’60s to the modern machines we see today. If you are a racing enthusiast, this game gives a good mix of nostalgia and challenge.
Drive Classic Cars Through Time
There are 16 cars in the game, all based on real motorsport designs across the decades. I started with some older 1960s-style cars, and, to be fair, they felt so different from the modern ones. The handling was much tougher, which makes it fun. Then, when I selected a modern racer, everything became much easier and adrenaline-packing-awesomely fast, while still requiring quite a good deal of control.
Famous Circuits Reimagined
There are 14 racing circuits in Formula Legends. Every track is inspired by the real historic tracks and changes in the course of different eras. Some look very calm and sunny with yachts in the background, while others give you a test of your skills in the form of tricky corners and elevation changes. I personally loved the older versions of the circuits better, as they reflected the raw racing vibe.
Weather and Race Strategy
It’s not just about speed in this game; you have to deal with rain, pit stops, and battery management. One time during the race, a huge shower came pouring in, and I totally messed up my tire choice, which cost me the win. That taught me that strategy is just as important as sheer speed. Slipstream management and saving the car for the end of the race felt both realistic and very rewarding.
The Legendary Drivers with a Touch of Skill
Formula Legends also featured fictional drivers based on real-life racing heroes. Each of them comes with unique abilities, such as better tire management or faster pit stops. I chose one driver who excelled in wet conditions, and it really made a difference in helping me win a very rainy race. These little details make the game far more enjoyable to play and ensure that no two races will ever be the same.
Story Mode and History
The story mode is one of the best aspects. It takes you through the various eras of racing, letting you actually compete in the championships corresponding to each era. The playthrough felt like watching a documentary on racing from decades past, only now you were an interactive participant. You really begin to appreciate how cars and racing have evolved through the years after having played through it.
Customization and Competition
If you feel like going beyond story mode, you can create your own championships, compete in Time Attack mode, or even jump into the leaderboards. It also has modding support, allowing you to create your own custom liveries, helmets, and sponsors. I checked some mods from the community, which made my cars really fit my personality.
