The first time I played Blood West on my PC, I thought it was another shooting game set in the Wild West. I was wrong. It is different from other cowboy adventures that involve saving towns and riding into the sunset. Here, you are an undead gunslinger who has been cursed, and the only way your soul will be free is through fighting nightmare-like lands populated with monsters, spirits, and demons.
Blood West blends Wild West legends with horror in a way I had not seen before. You don’t just rush with guns, but you also sneak, hide, and plan. It feels more like survival than shooting; I played through the first area, the Canyons, and every turn put me on edge because of how creepy and silent it felt. Then comes the Swamp and the Mountains, which are even more difficult. If you want to explore everything, and not just speed through, it easily takes more than 30 hours.
Gameplay Experience
Blood West is primarily a stealth FPS. If you’ve ever played some of the older classics like Thief or survival shooters like S.T.A.L.K.E.R., you’ll see that Blood West has been inspired. For me, sneaking into enemy forts and trying not to alert monsters in them felt very rewarding. There are times when one false move can bring an entire pack of ghouls down on you. I also liked that the main character here is voiced by Stephen Russell, the voice of Garrett from Thief, which gives me powerful nostalgia.
The game truly rewards patience. Rush in with guns blazing, and you would die quite quickly, but scout the area, mark enemies, and strike from the shadows; it felt so good. One of my memorable moments was sneaking into a fort full of undead and eliminating it as noiselessly as possible: reminded me of Hunt: Showdown with friends, slow but intense.

Why I Recommend Blood West
Stealth horror games are awesome, and even Wild West shooters with a dark twist can be mentioned. Blood West is one such good play. A pack of survival-horror-RPG, Blood West, is different from most of the western games. You are not a hero who saves towns, but you are a cursed being in this darker, more interesting journey.
