Once Upon a Katamari was one of those games that reminded me just why I love wonderfully weird and creative games when I first played it. It is quite different from many ordinary action games. You are an even smaller prince rolling a sticky ball, called Katamari, and pushing it around to pick up random things, from erasers to cows, and grow big enough to even roll up an entire city. It is just silly, entertaining, and relaxing (once you get into it).
A Fresh Katamari Adventure
This one has a sense of nostalgic memories and new surprises. New stages feel nice with cool visuals and irresistibly catchy music. For me, the best part was the magnet function. It pulls in objects next to your Katamari so that you don’t have to chase everything by hand. Nothing says time-saver like that, and rolling is all the more satisfying, too.
Rolling Through Time
The story begins with the King of All Cosmos having accidentally destroyed the Earth, Moon, and even stars while messing with some weird scroll. Yep, classic King move. Now you must roll through various time periods like the Jurassic, ancient Japan, and the Ice Age to fix his big mess. Wild how you see dinosaurs one moment and samurai the next.
Play with Your Cousins
You can play as the Prince or one of his 68 cousins, each with their ridiculous look. I had a lot of fun with color and face customization to make my designs. It gives the game some soul; it felt like you were rolling with your own gang.

My Experience
Playing on a mid-range PC, it went well; I didn’t experience any glitches or crashing. The graphics are simplistic yet colorful, akin to a cartoon come to life. The fusion of music and the sound of rolling is strangely soothing. It is one of those games that does not take itself too seriously, and that makes it, uniqueness-wise, fun.
