Rue Valley was such an out-of-the-ordinary experience for me that I felt as if I were walking into a tiny, strange little town with an unbearable atmosphere. The game literally thrusts you into a time-loop kind of thing. Every day feels like a battle with oneself; I felt this impression of days gone by, days sitting at home with one single thought cranking in my head in loops.
In Rue Valley, wandering through town, you meet people who look tired and are lost in their lives as well. There are different emotional issues for each character. Some of them will take time to let their thoughts loose as I keep meeting them. It somehow felt a bit real, like gradually understanding why some things happen with a friend of your own.
The time loop is the key thing. You keep awakening again at the top. You try to figure out what happened here and why the town feels stuck. The game constantly keeps asking through choices if you have the guts to confront your own fears. That was my favorite part because sometimes in real life, I tend to brush aside the harder thoughts, but this game kinda pushes one to confront them.
You can build your personality in Rue Valley. You can choose to be the quiet type who thinks too much or a loud character who speaks gruesomely without thinking. The game reacts accordingly depending on how you choose to behave. Different dialogues and responses change depending on who you choose to be. I tried playing both styles, and it was so fun to see the different conversations between the two.
Memory Graph system; this thing keeps the moments you unlock and shows you different intents and moods. Some pick mindsets that turn into funny or surprising dialogues. Status Effects affect how your character behaves. For instance, when drunk, you act more friendly, or when anxious, you act more emotional. This felt a bit relatable; moods control your life sometimes.
Since the time loop always resets, you get to try it all over again with a whole new set. I tried a few timelines just to see the contrast in reactions. Each time makes the story feel fresh. You may also be interested in: Wall World 2 Free Download for Windows PC
