I attempted playing Shin Megami Tensei III Nocturne HD Remaster on my PC the other day, and honestly, it felt kind of weird. The game begins normally in Tokyo, usually ensues, until everything just goes upturned. The whole world just folds into something strange because of this thing called the Conception. It feels like the city is breaking apart, making it into a castle filled with demons and all kinds of freaky stuff. The very first time I actually saw it in the game, I genuinely paused, which I definitely did not see coming.
Between God’s and demon kind-ending up in my case, the game keeps throwing your choices on you, some small ones that you probably wouldn’t give a second thought to, but realize later that they change the whole story for you. Ruined my first run, and it left me with a rather cruel ending, so I decided to start over. One thing that I really appreciate about the game is that it makes you think, even when all you want to do is roam around.
The 3D models look sharper, and the backgrounds are sharper than in the old version. I played the original many years ago, and this one feels way smoother. The new difficulty options come in handy since the game can hit hard. And to top it all, the suspend save option is a lifesaver because I kept getting stuck in random fights.
