It felt like sport was waking up on the screen for me the first time I executed AFL 26. The graphics looked clean, the hits felt heavy, and the crowd made it feel like a real match. I have played so many sports games before, but somehow this one felt different to me. Maybe it was because I grew up watching footy with mates, and this game strikes that same noisy feeling back.
Football Redefined
AFL 26 gives you a feel almost like a real match. Walking into a stadium, you can literally feel the match pace. The players’ reactions, the noise level, tackles, it all feels natural. And sometimes when I score, I smile because the reaction from the crowd sounds so real.
PRO TEAM
I spent an honest amount of time on PRO TEAM mode since I really enjoy building and progressing squads. You start with a basic team and then gradually upgrade your players. Something is satisfying when your team wins tough matches. It began with losing badly, but these days I am winning more matches as I upgrade a few players and tweak the match plans. So satisfying to see the team grow.
Player Career
This is the mode that captured my heart. You start as a young player with dreams of being picked. My early days in this mode were horrible. I kept missing goals for fun, but my timing became better with the matches. The joy felt in your player’s selection and ascendancy through the ranks is fulfilling. It feels like you’re living through the highs and lows of a real football career.
Management Career
For those who love to take control from the background, this mode is something else. You take on the role of a coach, thinking of the entire journey of the team. I had fun juggling various line-ups and premises. One bad decision on a match day, however, can cost the entire match. I knew that when I benched one of my best players, and instantly regretted it. Patience and planning are key.
Exceptional Fidelity
Players strongly resemble the real-life ones. Their movement and style feel familiar. You can tell that the developers cared about every detail. My friend, an avid AFL follower, recognised some players simply by their running style when I showed him the game.
Make Your Mark
Here, you can create your own club, player, and stadium. I had a lot of fun creating a small club with my colours and silly name. It gives that personal touch to the whole experience. My favourite part was designing my home ground to reflect how I imagined it back when I was younger. You may also be interested in: FIFA 21 Free Download for Windows PC
