I really did feel that surreal cold feeling when I first played Unmourned, and it is like having a solitary night-watching horror movie-alike moment. It will draw you in immediately in-game when you meet Jason, hunted out by a move into a new property, becoming increasingly aware of creepy things happening around him.
This house was left by some old family, and what happened remains unknown. Jason busts out the story behind it, and this is where he finds the hidden door. That part has me kind of scared, as it felt like something bad was waiting behind it. In searching for answers, he brings out disturbing memories from the past. Some scenes really get to you, as the game gets you inside those moments.
You sometimes feel like you are in the real house, and then suddenly you are inside a vision. Again and again, this change happens and shows you something new about the tragedy that happened there. It joins all the clues together and makes you understand why the house feels heavily haunted.
What You Face Inside The Game
Unmourned has a bit of adding to the tension. I’ve been jump scared so much that I wouldn’t want to admit it.
Random Events
Things happen all of a sudden without warning. The door might slam, or something moves. Something different happens each time I play, which keeps me sharp.
Sanity System
Jason loses grip after excessive darkness. As that happens, strange activity increases more and more. I remember when I was stuck in a dark hallway and started shaking on the screen. It really messes with your head.
Night Vision Camera
