I just came with ACUVAC, and man, it’s fun. You are in control of ACUVAC, a small pocket-sized kind of personality-driven cleaning device. But of course, do not expect it or think of it that it’s some cleaning game. It is not at all. It’s just sucking up things, throwing around, and wreaking havoc wherever you go. Literally everything is fair game, and that’s legitimately the fun part of chaos.
Very strong vibes of Katamari Damacy there, although instead of rolling things into a ball, you’re vacuuming them into the device. There’s also a bit of Luigi’s Mansion when you yank things from their cupboards and find them trapped with hidden surprises. And the hose is totally hilarious-kind of like Octodad bent and swinging everywhere, hitting stuff in absurd and humorous ways. Controls take a while to get of this, but once you get used to it, it feels amazing, and each insane trick you manage to pull off is just super satisfying.
What actually moves me is that everything you for the vacuum cleaner suck gets stored inside this house of ACUVAC. Yep, this little vacuum has a home that you can also decorate. I mean, I spent a long while unlocking hidden items, trying out the arcade machines, and decorating that house. You can even collect some extra cosmetics to upgrade your vacuum. For the perfectionists among you, there’s a ‘super-clean’ mode, which will allow you to clear absolutely everything off a level from your vacuum, and I promise you it feels so good when you nail it.
Plenty of sandbox levels, plenty of additional challenges, and even local multiplayer, which I tried with a friend and got just hilariously competitive. Chaos creation vs. level-clearing times, really. Also, fun doing such things in physics, as everything becomes fun, deliberate: fling stuff accidentally around or do your perfectly planned vacuum attack. ACUVAC turns cleaning into a lazy, playful adventure, and every level contains a little surprise that makes you laugh.
