BALL x PIT is a fantasy roguelite game where the hero dives into a never-ending pit, which has a variety of monsters. The rule seems simple – collect those special balls, hack your way down, and survive long enough to grab as much treasure as possible. The game is very fast, moves a lot, and every round feels different because of the random weapons and magic balls you find on the way.
Well, I should say that I tried it on my PC, BALLxPIT, and honestly, it is quite addictive. The more you play, the more you want to keep going just to see how deep you can go before dying. Every level seems to get tougher, but that is what makes it exciting.
Plot and Setting
The story starts when a disaster strikes the city of Ballbylon. The entire city is now destroyed, but it left that great gaping pit behind, and no one knows how deep it goes. Treasure hunters around the world come to explore and collect whatever Ballbylon’s wealth has left. But not everyone makes it back. Inside the pit are wild monsters that try to stop you before you even get on.
Your job involves fighting through these creatures using magic-powered projectiles. As long as you keep going deeper into the pit, the enemies get tougher, so you’re going to need to improve your weapons and strategy for survival. Each run seems reliant on luck and skill.
Ball Fusion
It’s one of my favorite parts of the game, BALL x PIT: Ball Fusion. You can fuse more than 60 different kinds of balls throughout your journey. Mix and match, and you’ll probably nail a crazy combo that clears enemies quickly. I kept on experimenting just to see what kinds of wild powers I could create. Definitely the kind of system that makes each run fresh.
Build New Ballbylon
With each treasure and resource you haul from the pit, you can reconstruct a city named New Ballbylon. The game is set to include over 70 distinct buildings, which would add value to the way you play. Some build better gear, new heroes, and others help you generate resources while you explore.
I liked this because you can feel progress even when you fail in the pit. You can always go back stronger the next time with some better upgrades. It is quite satisfying to see that your city grows slowly along with the strength of your heroes.

Personal Opinion
I’ve played a lot of roguelite games, but BALLxPIT is different in that it marries simple fun with deep gameplay. You don’t have to be a pro to have fun with it. All the random balls and monsters keep things interesting. It’s one of those games where you can really lose track of time playing because hours pass without you realizing it.
