Barbie Horse Trails came a little unexpectedly to me, the peace of mind that sets in once you start playing with this game. The park was once lively till Lady Carson, Ken’s aunt, and the Park Rangers intervened to bring life to it. You help with some nice upgrade works in the park, where the place gets an improved makeover for a little more fun for everyone.
Ride through swathes of open fields with flowers, wander around green, thick forests, street hills, and chill by calm lakes through your first adventure. What came to my mind was the time I once went to a nature park and how refreshing and calm the air felt. The game gives you that tranquil feeling.
Horse riding is only one of the activities available at the park. In a series of cozy cabins and campsites, you’ll get to meet Ken, Teresa, Nikki, and Daisy, who present to you side missions that spice up the game. You will also care for Lucky, your horse, cleaning, grooming, and feeding her, which makes you feel a bond, almost like a real life pet.
You get to see rare animals at the Wildlife Centre, as well as rare plants. I like how it teaches you little things about nature and still keeps it light and fun. As a Junior Ranger-in-Training, you learn everything about the park, aided by Head Ranger Annalise. There is also Dr. Potts, the archaeologist, who helps you look for hidden ceramics and discover a mysterious horse that adds a twist of adventure to the storyline.
While riding, you can take your camera for snapshots of stunning sights that you can save in the journal. It gives you a nice touch, especially if you’re a collector, as I happen to be. Treasure chests containing collectibles await along the way, turning the exploration into more rewarding fun.
Customization also makes for a lot of fun. Barbie can be outfitted for various rides, while Lucky can be decorated with accessories such as saddles, ribbons, and braids. If you are one of those who likes to insert some of your own touches into whatever you do, this is a very personal game in that sense.
