Cronos The New Dawn: very unique survival horror; it had gotten me. I have played a lot of horror games, but this game seems to throw you between two timelines. One side depicts 1980s Poland, while the other shows a wrecked future filled with monsters. That’s the very special blend that makes every step unpredictable.
Game World and Story
In Cronos The New Dawn, the world is no friend. This really was the condition that humanity fell into at the time of the Change, that huge event. Everything left behind seems broken, cold, and dangerous.
A Traveler: That’s you. You are exploring wastelands and seeking rifts called “time doors”. The mystery lies a little deeper in that they are hidden in the dark. The prosaic-Collaborative step lends more mystery to working with the mysterious Collective. I am rather impressed with how the game uninterestedly unfolds its tale while you are busy saving your life.
Survival and Enemies
The enemies are horrifying and disturbing, not twisted remnants of humanity. Some of them are easy if you tread carefully, but bigger ones push you to think quickly. In my first attempt with them, though, I underestimated them and lost all ammo before reaching the main area. That taught me a lesson about preparing better for future encounters.
Part of the experience is scavenging. Every bullet counts, every resource matters. The game even allows you to use anomalies for clearing paths and allowing opportunities for tactical chances. That feature made me feel rather smart when I avoided a fight with a heavy resource wastage.
Gameplay Impressions
There’s more though, cause this game is all action, it’s a real game that requires thinking. There were times when I had to choose between saving my health items or pushing through a risk. This is exactly what makes the game stressful, but in a positive way, addictive.
Burning monsters before they merge feels intense, and ripping out souls adds a dark touch that makes the world more unsettling.
