Decktamer has been defined as part deck-building, part monster collecting, and part strategy. The game is a roguelike in turn, which means that it doesn’t limit you to just collecting cards; rather, during the course of daily battles with monsters, you collect cards by taming the beasts you face.
I played it once, and honestly, I didn’t expect it to be so enthralling. It starts easy, but once you’ve gone deeper into the abyss, things get harder yet. The monsters become weirder and tougher, but each fight feels different. Kind of how I felt playing Pokémon for the first time, but with a better hold on the strategy and card moves rather than just adventure.
In the story, the abyss is dark and strange, where creatures make their living adaptations and spell lives for themselves. The depths of that place are said to have very precious things waiting to be found by someone who goes all the way to the bottom. But trust me, it is not that simple. The further you get, the stronger and more unpredictable the monsters become.
One thing that caught me about the game is that it needs me to think before every move. Every turn, you can attack or defend with your cards, but if you lose one of your creatures, its card is gone forever. That part makes every battle feel risky. I lost one of my favorite tamed monsters really quickly in the game, and it really did make me more cautious during the rest of the battle.
What really adds icing is that there are some creatures that bear powers they shouldn’t have. You can even transfer those powers from one creature to another to make powerful combos that completely switch your strategies. Just that makes the experience different every time you play the game.
Luck vs. skill: all of which constitute the really interesting factor keeping Decktamer alive. Plan as much as you want: there will always be turns you never expected. This unpredictability is what makes it amusing for me.

My Experience Playing Decktamer
I downloaded Decktamer thinking it was just another card game, but it turned out to be much more than that. The whole concept of taming monsters and using their powers made it reminiscent of Pokémon and Slay the Spire, where fighting or taming the next creature became more difficult the deeper I went into the abyss.
The best part of that is having an entire deck filled with different creatures that have unique powers. Sometimes, I get a combo that makes me feel unstoppable; other times, I totally mess up and lose everything. But that’s what makes the game so enjoyable.
