Playing Cars 2: The Video Game on the old computer used to remind me of the innocent excitement of my childhood as I watched the movie. While the game retains much of that magic, it adds a fair amount, giving players the chance actually to race, train, and spy-adventure for themselves.
The storyline picks up from where the movie left off and transports you to the CHROME training center, where Lightning McQueen, Mater, Finn McMissile, and Holley Shiftwell train to become top spies. These missions are not just about racing; they involve gadgets, tricks, and combat-style racing. This is what sets this title apart from any other racing game.
I spent untold hours unlocking new cars and tracks, especially in multiplayer mode with my friends. Competing on split-screen against four players gave us plenty of rewarding weekends. The spy missions were my favorite, for one had to think while driving and not just step on the gas.
