Dragon Age: Origins is one of those RPGs that suck you into the story and makes it feel real. It had you acting as a Grey Warden, one of perhaps the last defenders of humankind. Things are quite dark in the world now. There is civil war in the kingdom, and the darkspawn have returned with their leader, the archdemon. Your simple but hard role is to unite the broken land and fight to save the people involved.
This was the most reality-checking game I ever played the first time. Choices felt real. I wasn’t just sitting, clicking random options. I sat in front of the screen, very carefully, trying to make a decision that could change the whole direction of this story. The fights are no walk in the park, either. You feel the heat with those critters or an enormous pack of enemies, especially since my party members would depend on my strategy.
What excited me most were the relationships that could be built at the party. Not just sidekicks, they feel truly alive. A few became favorites; honestly, I still remember their lines even today.
Awakening Expansion Pack
The main story ends, but now, with Awakening, one adds so much more to that. You are no longer just a Grey Warden, but the commander of the entire order. There are new, strange kinds of darkspawn that do not behave the same as before, and you now have to manage your squad. New skills and more spells have been unlocked, plus an entire continent called Amaranthine to explore.
Awakening was exciting to me because this was not merely an extra narrative. It built on everything I had created in Origins, and my previous choices mattered-and I felt my journey was genuinely carrying forward.
