It is really the game that made the GTA series known, from 2D they transformed into 3D. With the appearance of GTA 3, Liberty City changed into a whole new area where you could explore the world as you wished. You play a character named Claude, who is betrayed during a robbery and struggles to make a mark in the criminal underworld.
Honestly, by the time I visited GTA 3 for the first time, it was play as if it was endless for me. I didn’t bother about missions at first. I just drove taxis, stole cars, listened to the funny radio ads, and roamed the streets. The freedom was mind-boggling at the time for a game. Even now, sometimes, I would reinstall it just to get that nostalgic feel of roaming around Liberty City.
It mixes crime drama and humor. One moment, you are dealing with gang wars, and another, you are driving a stolen car across town. The dark story, mafia bosses, and random chaos create a very addictive experience.
Liberty City Experience
Liberty City in GTA III feels alive; people walking around, gang members fighting, police chasing criminals, and cars filling the streets. I love the radio stations. Every one of them has its own style and makes just driving around fun.
Though dated graphics by current standards, the city has a very gritty atmosphere that makes you feel inside it.
