Knightica recently got me interested, and to be honest, I must say I have found the game to be surprisingly good. It is not a hyped-up game, but one of those kinds of games that gradually entice you. The idea is simple: recruit units, place them tactically, and then fight the toughest monsters to liberate different kingdoms.
Knights are easy to recruit and position within your armies.
Something that the entire game revolves around is building your army. You won’t just randomly select units; you’ll need to consider how they work together. For instance, I remember on one occasion I tried a combination of undead with a little bit of magic. Initially, it felt sorry for itself, but later in the run, the connection was so good that I took down an elite demon, with none of my squad hampered. Small choices really add up.
Every Run Has Its Own Unique Feature
That is probably my favorite trait of all – how unpredictable the game is. You could choose a commander this time with different units and different items. Sometimes you can stop at a merchant to get some items, and sometimes you’ll skip them and go fight already. Once, I went gambling with an item upgrade instead of taking a new unit, and after that, it changed completely how my battle went. That’s what keeps Knightica so alive.

Well, I spent a few evenings engrossed in this game, and the best thing about it is the combination of roguelike and auto-battle. You don’t just sit there watching as units slug it out; you feel much more directly involved because earlier decisions will shape the outcome. If you are into tactical games where you try different combos with a thematic approach to building a team, Knightica is worth a shot.
