Little Nightmares 3 has finally arrived, and I had a chance to play it on the PC, which felt appropriately creepy-or I suppose I should say “a nice kind of creepy.” The premise of Little Nightmares 3 finds two young souls, Low and Alone, entrapped in the dark and horrific world of Nowhere. It’s a sad place for children-not once did I feel it was meant for them; if they don’t make it out, they are stranded there forever.
That said, the co-op play was even more delightful with a friend. Low uses a bow, while Alone uses a wrench. You need both to be alive. Low’s arrows cut ropes and hit enemies from afar, while Alone’s wrench destroyed barriers and helped during close encounters. At times, we had to help boost each other to climb over big obstacles; that felt awesome.

An AI partner can join a lone player to make it an equally enjoyable experience. The design makes you rely on one another, which is why it gets so intense. The world is full of secret routes and weird puzzles and the odd, frightening creature that gives you no time at all to relax.
The Candy Factory area was certainly the highlight for me. The Candy Weevils were everywhere, and running away from swarms of them felt like a nightmare. Another time sneaking past the Monster Baby in the Necropolis chilled me to the bone. The funfair level was mad, too, in one part running while giant feet slam down around you, and at times, weighing up to hide, run, or fight.
It is not just about running scared; it relies on fast thinking and survival with one another. That is the pull for Little Nightmares III.
