Lost Twins 2 Overview
Lost Twins 2 is more like a quiet stroll through one’s storybooks than an actual game. You guide Abi and Ben, two now-lost children, through their attempts to get home. Their odyssey wanders through colorful, magical lands full of puzzles to be solved, which stimulate your mind but are never overwhelmingly taxing. Then there’s that mysterious bird Fenghuang, and honestly, I couldn’t figure out half the time whether it was leading me astray or guiding me.
The art style was my first impression. Each level looks like an artist has hand-painted it with soothing colors and tranquil scenes. The characters are cute, yet the little details in the background give one the impression that the place is much alive. The lighting felt special too; it almost feels like you are stepping into a dream world. The music is calming, slow, soothing, and just downright heart-melting. I found myself eventually leaving the game on a fitting background score to set a mood in my room.
The puzzles were clever, yet fair. Some puzzles took me a few minutes of head-scratching before I finally cracked them; that was so satisfying. All along, new mechanics were introduced so that you never felt you were stuck on one thing forever. Water puzzles, breakable tiles, platforms-there’s always something new to experience in each level.
There was also a co-op feature that I found to add value. It made the puzzles a lot more fun to think about with sliding tiles or pressing switches in time together. But I still enjoyed playing alone, as at its heart, the entire game is about exploration and thinking at your own pace.
And best of all, it’s completely stress-free. Absolutely no enemies, no timers, no game-over screens. Just you and the puzzles and the tranquil surroundings. After a long day, it was simply nice to plug in to an unstressful exercise for a change.
