The store feels alive, customers enter and just look at what you have stocked on the shelves. Others come with very serious requests. I remember one instance where one client asked for a spear because he was about to head into the White Forest to face a creature called Teraset. That made me think long and hard about which material and design would actually help him survive.
Weapons Decide Stories
One item can change a person’s entire future. Each has a customer profile: rationale, biography, and end goals. The weapon you hand over can also determine how far their journey can reach.
It really got me into crafting. Making a weapon to win a simple duel, or making a two-handed, heavy-length sword for open battle: which would a craft-person use to make for this scenario? Sometimes, even a wrong choice can put your customer in danger.
Knowledge and craft go hand in hand.
The interesting aspect of Medieval Blacksmith is skill mixed with decision-making. Forging itself is fun, but you also need to know your customers, their enemies, and the situations they are walking into.
Initially, I thought it was only about blacksmith mechanics, but then I realized it involves attention to the world around you. Knowing much of the story actually helps your work.

What I appreciated was the fact that it was not just about business; people came into the shop with their own narratives. I was part of such a narrative through the weapons I created. The little things it gave me were memorable moments. Would I spend extra time crafting a silver sword or nothing more than a plain iron blade simply because of who asked?
