The world is subsequently filled with insane cult-like followers, and you stand as one against them. You are armed only with drumsticks and your pigheaded will to fight.
The entire premise sets a very original concept. While fighting for survival against unspeakable levels of foes, you’d collect cursed records. These records were not mere collectibles; they upgraded your playlist. And that playlist is what gives you power. You have Fire, Lightning, Holy Energy, Oil Chaos-whatever you choose to execute. Every new track you enter brings in a heavier set of drumming beats, and truly, your playlist feels like an ever-growing weapon in your hands.
Gameplay Experience
You don’t just traverse random places by running away. The levels take you across corrupt graveyards, haunted cathedrals, and deep catacombs. And trust me, every area feels darker and creepier than the last. Now, the cool thing is that this is not a rhythm game; it is all about skills and power-ups and using the band’s very own music against them. At the end of every stage, you go up against one of the bosses, a member of the band. They have all their unique artistry, so every battle feels different.
Along the way, you get to meet BingBong, this little void creature full of weirdness. He offers his help, but never for free. You pay him in guitar picks and exposure, and in return, he gives you buffs, upgrades, or just enough energy to push through. There is also the Sanctuary that consumes experience points obtained from fallen drummers, so you can buy more perks. Every run feels like an improvement and allows you to go further.
Music and Sound
Being that this game revolves around drums, the soundtrack is the lifeblood of it. Metavoidal will showcase 16 original songs, 72 variations, and a bonus of over 60 drum tracks covering four elemental themes: Fire, Lightning, Oil, and Holy. The tracks adapt to your choices, allowing the background music to change according to how you play. It makes punctuating the fights with metered life and brutal realness. You’re in a show, living it.
