The first time I played Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault on my PC, I literally felt like starting from the beginning in a game, starting a life! You wake up in this faraway land called Tresna with empty pockets, and everyone around you is just surviving.
The mood here is like reconstruction from the scratches. That feeling was nice, and it brought back memories of when I tried to fix my old PC with my own efforts, slowly getting better by bits and bits.
The games combine Action Dungeon RPG and shop management. You enter dangerous locations, loot the finds, bring them back, and sell things in your own little shop. It just feels good to finally pocket some good loot after a grueling run. I can admit that sometimes I get greedy and go deeper, but most of the time, that ends up costing me half of what I picked. Still, at times when you hit the jackpot, it’s quite rewarding. Keeping the shop is, actually, a bit enjoyable. You get to personalize it to your liking, set prices for your goods, see how customers react, and try to figure out whether to raise or lower your price. One time, I marked a rusty scrap way up; no one even touched it. Lowered the price a bit next time, and suddenly everybody wanted it. That is relatable because this is exactly how selling stuff works online in real life, too.
Since the survival of a merchant is entirely dependent on you, upgrading the folks around you goes a long way. When you invest in their businesses, you can procure better gear, better weapons, and upgrades. The whole town looks a lot more alive before long. New faces pop into town, and more customers come into your shop. Your bit of progress actually seems to do wonders for all the people around you. I like games where the village progresses together with you because it gives a bit of an achievement feeling.
A challenge of sorts lies with this Endless Vault. It is like this ancient setting asking how far you dare go. Each run down the Vault is grueling. You try to sting your way through the right paths with items you take on and be cunning as you pack your backpack, not to waste a single item. The deeper down you go, the greater the loot. But with great loot comes an equally great risk. At times, I chicken out and stop midway, worried about losing it all. Other times, I take the gamble and somehow return alive. Now that’s what makes it thrilling.
If you are one of those who love dungeon crawling, shop managing, village building, and loot collecting, then Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault Free Download for Windows PC deserves a try.
