About Path of the Abyss
Path of the Abyss is a single-player dungeon RPG featuring a unique black and white sketch style. You build your own character and delve into a huge grid based dungeon, amongst others, to test your progress.
Combat is in real time, but you can pause at any time. While paused, you can examine enemy moves, cast a battle buff, choose skills, and set traps or counters. When you hit play again, the action resumes and continues until the enemies are defeated.
Before each battle, you set up your formations in a 3×3 grid called the Formation Panel with skills. Every member of the same team shares this grid, so you have to think carefully about synergies between skills, such as whether to focus on healing, crowd control, or damage.
Character customization is in depth; you select eight abilities, five main stats, including strength and dexterity, gears, and skills. Each of these is combined to create different builds: perhaps a fragile but deadly mage or an armoured warrior who stands up for the rest of the team.
The story starts in East Weltden, where an old ruin is now filled with deadly monsters. Many others have tried exploring it, but none have returned.
