Ritual of Raven is a truly immersive narrative experience that makes a relaxing farming sim, and it’s unlike most farming games I’ve played. It throws away all the dirt of planting and watering with magical helpers called Arcana Constructs that will do all that dirty work for you. The whole experience for me was like laying it out and watching my very magical herbs grow without having to fuss about it.
The game takes place in a world where multiple kinds of magic coexist. A few people tried to open portals to other worlds, but something went wrong, and now everyone involved has lost something they cared about, and the portals are not stable. Creatures and people just keep popping into the village.
One of these mysterious portals brings you in, and this is where you meet Sage, the village witch. Sage deems you appropriate for her apprentice, and your chief task is to assist her in finding her lost Familiar, Flufferstoop, while learning all the magical rituals in the process.
You also have a sassy Familiar, Raven, who will accompany you on your adventure. As a team, collect ingredients and knowledge to perform powerful rituals together. Fill your Book of Shadows while looking for the Portal Keepers to bring balance to the chaotic portals in the village.
Here’s something I found interesting while playing: if you pick lavender by hand, it completely loses all magic. That is why Arcana Constructs are perfect because you can enchant them with a magical deck of cards so that they plant, water, and harvest for you. There are a total of 22 Constructs to be collected, and then your herb garden will look fantastic and magical.
