RV There Yet is one of those games that reminds me of those random road trip memories where things went wrong, but eventually kicked off a good story. In the game, you and your friends are in the RV trying to zoom back home after a laid-back vacation; everything unravels once you are forced to go on a rough countryside road rather than hitting the highway.
I played this on a rainy evening with friends, which was pretty chaotic and fun. Roads are bumpy, laughter ensues, and some knuckles are white with panic, depending on who is driving. The goal is quite simple: get your RV through the back roads and back on Route 65.
Survive Mabutts Valley
Now that’s where the real grind kicks in. Mabutts Valley is not a place you want to be trapped in for too long. Strange challenges will be thrown at you in-game, while you will need to keep a lookout for supplies, burgers, antidotes, and EpiPens. Trust me, running out of it when things actually go wrong is no fun at all.
For me, it reminded me of those survival games keeping everyone alive, but this one goes extra with a spice of humor and collaboration.
Winch Mechanics
The winch system is, in my opinion, the coolest thing about RV There Yet. There is one on the front and another on the back of your RV, and you have to use both of them to winch yourself out of awkward positions. It’s all about the balance and physics, and when you get it spot-on, the feeling is satisfying.
When I first tried the winch, I totally messed it up and flipped the RV sideways. Once I got the hang of it after a few tries, however, getting the van through obstacle-covered, treacherous terrain was surprisingly pleasurable.
Help Each Other Out
The game is not just about driving either. Helping each other is one big aspect. Whether it be sharing food, keeping everyone awake, or making sure the driver doesn’t doze off and crash, there has to be teamwork. Games like these should include friends for a good time, since every little mistake becomes a hilarious moment shared.
And while your friends are busy cracking jokes, don’t forget that the driver requires all the help available to reach home.
