For those who have played any of the old-school Serious Sam games, they are already aware of what kind of havoc is going to happen. Serious Sam 2 seems to be an even wilder version of the originals. It’s loud, funny, and just chaos-filled mayhem. When I played it the first time, it reminded me of the good old days when video games did not need logic, just complete fun and limited shooting.
You play as Sam, a man who has never-ending bullets or guts. What is the story? Easy. Save the universe from Mental and his army of strange creatures that keep on getting bigger and weirder with each level. From thick green jungles to cold, frozen maps to futuristic cities, it is just about moving, shooting, and surviving.
Classic Serious Sam Action
There is surely something satisfying in holding the trigger and watching hordes of his foes explode upon accomplishment. The pace would never slow; at times, you get only barely enough time to reload before the next group hits. No stealth or planning; how long can you survive before the chaos finally engulfs you?
Crazy Enemies
There are at least 45 types of monsters in Serious Sam 2, and some of them are downright hilarious. These include clowns who throw bombs, flying monsters, office zombies, and headless screamers running right at you. Each level feels different because of such randomness related to enemies. Boss battles are arguably the most ludicrous and over-the-top, with some gigantic ones that take forever to wear down.
Lovely and Huge Maps
In different settings, the game gives you more than 40 levels. Some levels are vibrant and fairly open, while some are gloomy and highly trap-laden. Personally, I enjoyed the jungle levels quite a bit, crazy but amusing. You can meet a few little tribes in a few missions who come to help you, dispersing a little story flavor towards the overall adventure.
Weapons and Gadgets
The real icing on the cake is the weaponry. You get all the Serious Sam classics: shotgun, minigun, rocket launcher, and cannon. Then there are newer names like the Klodovik gun. Another clever change is the ability to switch to grenade-slinging with the other fire button, sure to make those mob fights just that much easier.
Vehicles and Turrets
Hop atop turrets, blowing apart massive groups of baddies, or ride strange animals and vehicles turned killing machines. It won’t win any awards for flashiness or realism, but that’s just the old-school shooter fun.
Co-Op and Online Fun
Serious Sam 2 also allows you to play with some friends. You can team up with as many as 16 players online and just create the maximum mayhem together. The game also has Deathmatch modes if you want to compare your shooting skills with other players.

My Thoughts
I really think Serious Sam 2 is one of those games that you can pick up any time while just hanging about and wanting to blow stuff up without thinking. It doesn’t take itself seriously (and neither does Sam). The graphics still stand up pretty good even today, while the gameplay never gets boring. If you love intense first-person shooters with loads of explosions, this is one game you would consider downloading. You may also be interested in: Bye Sweet Carole Free Download for Windows PC
