The Shape of Dreams can be classified as a not-so-ordinary roguelite. It combines frantic action with hack-and-slash mayhem and co-op play with friends. Every run feels different due to the adjustment of skills and items to builds. You can choose to go solo for a hard run or take the path of fun and invite up to three friends for a session of Real-Time Co-op.
I initially thought it was going to be like any other roguelite, but it got the better of me. The game provides you with random challenges, forcing you into quick thinking. Co-op was all about fun with my friends since we all picked different builds, resulting in a nice mix of chaos and strategy.

Replay Value
Given that runs are procedural, you will never experience any two runs the same. Builds are random, meaning one build can never truly dominate. With four levels of difficulty, plus modifiers, it feels like every run is a fresh one.

Enjoy playing solo? The game certainly offers a tight skill-based gameplay experience. Prefer to play with friends? That’s where it truly shines in co-op: 4 players in a team working out various playstyles.

Reason for Liking Shape of Dreams
I have played quite a few roguelites, including the likes of Hades and Dead Cells, but this was a different experience with the co-op versus combat mix-up. It felt refreshing to get into trying out random builds. Some runs I bombed fast; others led me to put together combos that made me feel unstoppable. With friends, the sessions devolved into hours of laughter, strategy, and hilariously fine mess-ups.
