I recently started playing Skinfreak, and it totally chilled me. It’s a horror-themed game that starts off fairly normal and then goes down the drain into something horrifying. You play as Belle, who was called by her boss to come to the office in the late hours to install a software platform. Boring, right? But then, when she starts to work, everything starts getting strangely weird.
The buildings seem empty, quiet, and have that eerie feeling like something seems to be lurking and watching you. Then it comes to your notice that a creepy serial killer called the Skinfreak is on the loose in the city, and now he is after Belle. From that point onward comes the fight for survival. You can actually feel her panic whenever you hear footsteps or distant noises drift down those dark office corridors.
One of the early scenes, when she hides behind a desk, stopped my heart. You hear the killer’s voice echoing down the hall. My heart raced so fast; I think I was going into cardiac arrest. The tension does not stop after that; the more you explore, the worse it gets.

It is not one of those hyper-polished horror titles, which gives it all the more intrigue. It feels raw and unpredictable.
While playing, I used to try to peek into every office and search through every desk drawer, half hoping to find something useful, half terrified of what I might actually, well, find. I liked that this particular game had minimal hand-holding. You have to somewhat figure stuff out by yourself, but sometimes that makes it more terrifying because you never know what is around the corner.
If you are one of those people who appreciate horror games where the story is just as great as the frightening, then Skinfreak is certainly worth a try. It contains the suspense, gore, and curiosity that keep you on your toes until the final moment.
