This game is for anyone who wishes to be Patrick Star and just have fun in Bikini Bottom; I myself played it, and it feels like you just got thrown into Patrick’s brain. It really doesn’t make sense, it’s really very random and goofy, and it’s totally unexpected.
It allows you to make SpongeBob’s world an appealing playground. You can pick up an object and throw it somewhere else with sheer whim. When I grabbed little miscellaneous stuff, such as a paint can and reef blower, I spent almost an hour just moving things around and laughed at the weird physics.
Open house access is given to the spongy map from The Krusty Krab all the way to Glove World. I really loved the skydiving experience with a mere umbrella, even though it didn’t really make sense. I also wasted a lot of time digging for treasure in the Dump, and that’s when I realized one major thing about this game: it really encourages you to do silly stuff without thinking too much.
What would make this experience all the better is when your friends from the SpongeBob universe come to meddle with you. SpongeBob, Sandy, Mr. Krabs, and even Plankton throw in missions that are really funny only for Patrick. Sometimes I just dumped the missions and hung out. The game is not really strong on forcing you to follow tasks, which I think makes it more leisurely, at your own pace.
You could also jump into some really insane side areas. If you were really just wanting to smash everything in sight, Mrs. Puff’s Rage Room is kind of where it would be at. Squidward’s about to, looking as disgruntled as ever, which honestly made me laugh more than anything else.
SpongeBob SquarePants: The Patrick Star Game is an excellent game to try out if you love exploring, breaking little gameplay rules, and enjoying nonsensical fun. Forget all the serious business.
