Squiggle Football Summary
Squiggle Football is a management-style Aussie Rules game in which you control everything that occurs with your team. You recruit new players, trade out the ones considered not good enough, and build the squad you have always wanted. If someone slows the team down, feel free to drop them without a second thought.
To me, the most fun part was setting up powerful lineups. Mixing and matching players, coaches, and tactics really makes the difference in how your team performs. You start in the State Leagues, bare bones at first but growing in challenge, to ascend to the National League and win a premiership before the board gets impatient with you.
At least you don’t go through the time wasting annoyances of contracts and random injuries. Instead, the game is streamlined and focused on the actual fun part: making smart decisions around whether to draft, trade, and cut players past their best.
With over 850 different players to toy with, there is plenty of scope for testing different rosters. You could try the infinite strategy; the match engine keeps every game alive. The match is built on real Aussie Rules data from Squiggle analytics, so you never know the result for sure. I still remember one match when I thought it was in the bag, but the other team came back in the dying minutes, and that felt just like a real match.
