Honestly, when I first attempted Super Fantasy Kingdom, I didn’t really expect to be under its charm for so long. You start with a return from a hunting trip, only to find your entire kingdom in ruins; everything is destroyed, with all sorts of monsters wandering around. From there, the aim is to rebuild the ruins of your home and defend it from endless waves of enemies every night.
Each night is its good test: monsters keep on coming, the longer it gets into the night, the greater the challenge. My earlier days of trying would see my few walls down in a matter of minutes, and my heroes stood no chance, but for every loss, the next one starts with perks from the previous play, and that means a whole lot more. You lag your way through unlocking heroes, new areas, or sometimes even figuring out the mystery behind this whole life-and-death cycle.
The best part for me was choosing different guardians in every run: every hero has powers and their own style of battling. There was that time when I chose an ice priestess who froze the monsters in place, and my crossbowmen did the rest; another time, I went full on a knight charge while my trebuchet guys rained rocks from behind. Just trying out such new combos is what makes the game a blast and never boring.
You can recruit more than 50 unique units in this world. It’s all about testing different combos: vampires guarding halflings, dinosaurs charging ahead while genies blast spells from behind, or simply crossbowmen letting foot soldiers stay alive longer. Some of them you hire using resources, while others just randomly show up for your run. Every game gives something new to work with.
For me, the game is about more than fighting; it deals with tactics and management. You do have to plan with the resources, reinforce your defenses, and train your heroes. This makes the planning and strategy work for your brain.
The way I see it, if you like RPGs, strategy, and simulation, give this game a shot. Since it remains in early access, updates and fresh content should appear regularly.

My Experience
A few runs later, I realized this wasn’t just a defense game; it was about patience and brainwork. One would never feel disgraced by losing since every restart would worsen the previous run, and of course, you are more able. Soon, you will have your perfect team and know how to survive for longer nights. It gave me all the happiness I used to feel while playing classic survival games back in my schooling years.
