The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles is free to grab on Windows. This bundle contains two full games in which you play as Ryunosuke Naruhodo, the ancestor of Phoenix Wright. I pretty much enjoyed it since it just felt like one was really living in a detective story, going between searching for clues and standing in a courtroom to battle for justice.
As far as the time and setting are concerned, we are in Japan and England in the late 1800s. Each game has five murder mystery episodes, so there is a lot to get through. We get the drama, the hilarity, the unbelievable twists, and the classic Ace Attorney turnabouts, which keep things fresh and exciting with each continuity. While playing, I had to apply so much thought into every minor detail, and I must say it feels pretty good to pick up on something a witness just tried to dodge.
Going-to-witnesses, collecting evidence, figuring-out-what really happened-or-enter into-court. You listen to the testimonies; you cross-examine people; then you show the evidence, the right evidence at the right time. I really love the shouting of “OBJECTION,” as it absolutely feels like you are proving the truth. An unforgettable moment-ever-my raising is something that comes in a great crunch game.
If you ever get stuck, there are hints. I used them once when I was stuck with no idea how to proceed, and they helped me move ahead without breaking my train of thought. Even if you never played an Ace Attorney game before, this one is easy to get into. If you are into detective stories and courtroom battles, you will be in for a treat.
