The City feels like a giant maze. When I first played, I found it a bit frightening because everything was dark, and the guards moved around as if they owned the place. The streets are crowded, and the rooftops seem like a different world above. The locals act as if they are always afraid of Baron Ulysses Northcrest. He controls everything, and anyone who speaks out against him is doomed before they even have a chance.
You play as Magpie, a thief who grew up alone because Northcrest took everything from him. I connected with him because he is just trying to survive in a challenging environment. Everything changes when he discovers an ancient item that holds more than just money. From that point, the story dives deeper. The game gradually draws you in as you learn more about the secret behind The City.
The VR aspect feels quite different. You actually reach out to grab items and hide behind walls. When I tried sneaking past a guard, my hands were shaking because it felt so real. You can pickpocket people, open hidden boxes, and use tools to trick the guards. The excitement of leaning into the shadows made the experience even more enjoyable.
If you prefer a slow approach, you can move in the dark without anyone noticing. However, if you want to fight, the game allows you to deal with enemies using different arrows and tools. Sometimes I climb rooftops for fun because the place looks fantastic with its old steampunk style.
